Welcome to the
Research Hub for Coral Reef
Ecosystem Functions.
Our goal is to understand
ecosystem functions on coral reefs.
Our focus lies not on certain taxa, but rather on dynamic processes. We want to understand how coral reefs work: how they developed, how they may look in the future, and how we can support them through climate change and the Anthropocene.

Our post doc alumna Sharon Wismer just published her first kids’ book - Keepers of the Reef! It introduces kids to the beauty of coral reefs and explains the many important jobs fishes play to keep reefs healthy.
A new paper by PhD Alumnus Dr Chris Hemingson. He asks, Are fish communities on coral reefs becoming less colourful? He quantified colour and patterns of entire fish communities, and compared them to reef condition to find out.
